Greco's Ghosts

Art. History. Culture.

About the Author

Hello Blogosphere, my name is Kristy. Here is my life story as it pertains to this blog: I grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and attended Albion College for my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Spanish. In life, I was always passionate about art and loved creating it and being surrounded by it. It wasn’t until I took my first Art History course in college that I realized that I wasn’t as interested in creating art as I was in looking at it, analyzing it, reading about it and talking about it. However, as a double major I didn’t have enough room to minor in Art History, so I take the liberty of calling my undergraduate course load a “Concentration” in Art History.

After college I made Kansas City, Missouri my home, where my passion for art was expanded by discovering the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and its amazing collection. After a number of volunteer gigs at the museum, I decided I wanted more of a role in the art world, so I enrolled at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) for my Master’s degree in Art History. Being proficient in Spanish and immersed in Spain’s culture after studying abroad in Alcalá de Henares during my undergrad, I decided to focus on the art of Spain for grad school. My graduate thesis is about Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, entitled Goya and the Grotesque: A Study of Themes of Witchcraft and Monstrous Bodies.

Today I live in Omaha, Nebraska with my husband and our puggle. My other interests include cooking, sports, healthy living, and reading. I am also a big Harry Potter fan, a wine enthusiast, and a lover of travel.
